ABOUT EL NIÑO
The El Niño phenomenon has captivated our attention for the last 150 years. Since 1877, heavy flooding and droughts in different parts of our planet have been recorded. I am afraid to say it has created more harm than good to millions of people.
El Niño in my personal front has been nothing but problematic. My dad lost everything in the well recorded El Niño I 1982 – 83 due to the excessive amount of rain in mainland Ecuador.
The El Niño of 1998 also created tons of economic problems for several members of my family that were involved in the shrimping business, so yes, I do have strong concerns and respect for this phenomenon that is about to pay us a visit once again….

But, my personal relationship with El Niño goes beyond the damage and the loss created in the past. It goes hand by hand with my love for surfing and finding perfect empty waves.
El Niño as we all know, due to the fact that it produces stronger and larger storms in the northern hemisphere means only one thing:
PUMPING SURF IN THE ENCHANTED ISLANDS!
All that energy that will be created below than normal south of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska will be very well received on our shores, especially in San Cristóbal island.

SAN CRISTOBAL SURF EXPEDITIONS
Considering the extra number of storms that will be created by El Niño in the northern hemisphere and their strength, we are anticipating an epic NW swells season starting in late September / early October, 2026 lasting until April 2027.
I am sure many of you dear surfers with a strong need to score epic surf would like to take part in this historic event, so I have designed 7 San Cristobal island surf expeditions that will focus on the hidden gems on the island’s north coast. Yes, we have “save” them for an event of this magnitude.
For 9 days and 8 nights, our mission will be to surf at least 2 surf sessions per day on the nearby and well known spots (8) adding 2 north coast surf expeditions where 5 spots will be ready to be surfed thanks to the El Niño event!
Max number of participants is 8 persons / surfers per plan (girlfriend, boyfriend, etc. are welcome to join as well).

4 daily Galapagos frequencies (arrivals and departures) are available either from Guayaquil or Quito cities (you may need an overnight stay at the beginning or the end of your journey) in mainland Ecuador, the port of arrival in South America.
